What is male infertility?
A common point of view – “if a woman can’t get pregnant, then itself is to blame” is deeply flawed. Scientists have shown that male infertility is not less than the female. If could not conceive within one year of a full sexual life without contraception, the probability that problems with the reproductive system are from men, is about 45%.
Before starting treatment, both spouses must be examined to identify the cause of infertility. Once the cause of infertility is found, doctors will try to fix it. For example, if the conception prevent adhesions in the fallopian tubes, their permeability will restore surgically. If all the matter in the reduced number of sperm – the male will be offered to undergo appropriate treatment.
By the way, the ability of male reproduction depends entirely on the quality and quantity of sperm, and not by his sexual activity! Every second in the male body produces more thousands of sperm. Since the onset of puberty to death, this process is continuous. And all that ever is the fastest and viable sperm got to the female egg and fertilized it. Unfortunately, there are many diseases and simply adverse factors that can cause failures in this process.
Basis of male infertility are three problems:
-deficiency of spermatozoa (disorders of motility and viability);
– a sharp reduction of the number;
-the violation of their promotion semjavynosjashchim paths and emitted to the outside.
Call them, by the most conservative estimates, can more than a dozen reasons.
Most common causes of male infertility:
Varicocele (15% of cases) – varicose veins of the testis and spermatic cord (a special channel for output of sperm located in the scrotum). In the varicocele increases the temperature in the testes, is a violation of their work, and, therefore, damage the sperm.
Injuries and defects of the genital organs of men (of undescended and twisting of the testicles) – 10-12%.
Infectious diseases (10% of cases). First of all those, STD: gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, etc. But worst of all genital infections affects men the usual childhood disease – “mumps”.
inflammation of the male reproductive organs, for example, the prostate gland (prostatitis) or urethra (urethritis).
Sexual disorders: erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and other
Immunologic disorders: failure of immunity begins to develop special substances that can damage your own sperm.
Hormonal disorders, for example, a deficiency of the male hormone testosterone.
Finally, male infertility can be caused by a number of external reasons: psychoactive substances (alcohol, tobacco, drugs, medication, etc), poor environment (radiation, pesticides, lack of vitamin C and zinc) and even just careless handling of one’s own body (too tight clothing, frequent visits to the sauna, excessive zeal in sporting activities and so on the.
And even if the cause of infertility is not resolved, there’s still a chance to conceive a child with the help of modern methods:
-stimulation of the ovaries (applies when the violation or the absence of ovulation);
-artificial insemination (used for sexual weakness in men, insufficient quantity or activity of sperm in natural conditions, allergic reactions of the woman’s body on the components of semen, and so on);
–IVF (the ovum in a test tube and place it directly into the uterus);
-ICSI (IVF with direct injection of sperm into the egg);
-the sperm donation;
-oocyte donation (donor egg);
–surrogacy (in which case use IVF, but only as one of the intermediate stages).
There are lots of opportunities. And although success is not guaranteed 100%, but very many people the achievements of modern medicine gave the joy of motherhood and fatherhood.
