Warts — HPV infection that causes benign tumors of the skin, having the form of a nodule or papilla. The disease is caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). At the moment more than a hundred varieties (types) of HPV: some types of HPV are harmless, others cause warts, others are striking genitourinary organs.
The human papilloma virus that causes the development of warts are transmitted by direct contact with an infected person, as well as through the objects of common use.
Infection contributes to irritation and microtrauma of the skin – warts often occur in the course of scrapes, cuts, etc. Close and synthetic shoes can also cause microtrauma (rubs feet), and to contribute to the formation of plantar warts. And the appearance of warts after use of the pool due to the fact that the skin is easily damaged on concrete ledges and irritated chlorinated water. Lowered immunity and chronic stress also increase the risk of growth of human papillomavirus warts.
Types of warts
Warts, usually formed on the face, on the skin of the hands and feet, under the nails. Depending on the type of human papillomavirus and clinical manifestations of disease there are three types of HPV warts:
- Ordinary (vulgar) warts, particularly common in children of school age. Up to 71% of all cutaneous warts are they. Are sharply limited, grayish-white, dense, painless, towering above the skin bumpy hemispherical nodules. Their surface can be covered with papillary growths in the form of cauliflower. Usually appear on the back surface of brushes and fingers of hands or on the face. If left untreated, around will be a lot of white spots, which may eventually turn into brown patches. As a result of warts can cover the whole face, becoming a source of serious human emotions.
- Plantar warts caused by HPV, appear in places of pressure shoes, especially in heavily sweating people — they account for about 34 % of the total number of cutaneous warts. Very dense, keratinized, grey-dirty color plantar warts have strong soreness, preventing walking, and can diastat from small patches of a few millimeters to chicken eggs.
- Flat, or youth, warts strike mainly children and adolescents. Less common (4 %). They appear as rounded or irregularly shaped flat nodules of grayish-yellow color, quickly keratinizing. Affect the most sensitive areas of the hands and feet — the back of your hands, between fingers, around and under the nails, and the skin of the face and neck. Flat warts often occur in the course of nicks and cuts.
